In this article, Le Trong Hung, a software developer who has been working in the industry for more than 3 years in Vietnam, Japan and Korea, expressed his changing in thinking about design.

Coming to Korea, I have chance working with a Korean Designer and found that the design techniques in Korea is very strong. Very fast in brainstorming and then make the design immediately. Beside, the sharing knowledge among designers is very rich for all (from a newbie to an expert). The designer usually show the sample, design style or somethings if needed easily.

Starting with programming and currently, working with the designer on Graphic User Interface design for computer software I am awoken from my programming dream. Longtime ago and recently, I think programming is the only heart of software, currently, I totally change my mind-set, programming is a tool of software art, it must serve to the design (functional design, architecture design, graphics user interface design, company strategy design, ....). So a programmer must be understand these things to make the software in the happy, smart way.

Happy way means: Happy for the end user and the programmers have to change their thinking way (For example: Happy after the happiness of customer, not happy after the finishing of some technical things as usual).

Smart way means: Programming power is limited, so it cannot adapt all the requirements, so programmer have to choose and implement the important thing (in end-user thinking way). Smart in thinking as we are end-users.

Many strategies and methodologies were applied to make easy tool for lazy customer. For example, the GUI must be designed so that users do not move the mouse so far to do somethings, and coloring techniques must be applied for each type of customers not to make them be stressed. The good design is: It can make customer saying: oh this is my friend (not only the tool).

Sometimes, designer talks to me that: your GUI is programmer style (cause I'm a programmer) and he said: think about the user before design something (it is called user oriented). Computer design technique is not only an art, it is a technology, a business.

So, research more, why not!!!
